The Nonprofit of the Year Award recognizes an organization that goes above and beyond in service to the community—one that demonstrates vision, compassion, ethical leadership, and a dedication to creating meaningful, lasting impact. Being recognized in this way means so much to our team, our volunteers, and the many partners who help move our mission forward.

“This award is a true reflection of our incredible volunteers, partners, and supporters who share our commitment to protecting our waterways and connecting people to our lakes and rivers,” said Executive Director Deana Jerdee. “We’re also deeply grateful for the support of the Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and the entire community, who continue to champion our work—including our partnership with the Village of Elk Rapids to improve Rotary Park and provide greater access to the Chain of Lakes Water Trail.”

For the past decade, Paddle Antrim has proudly led the development and stewardship of the Chain of Lakes Water Trail, a 100+ mile network of interconnected lakes and rivers in Northwest Michigan. Our work centers on protecting these treasured waterways by helping people experience them firsthand—building a deep sense of connection, encouraging stewardship, and strengthening the communities that surround them.

From improving access sites to hosting community paddles, educational programs, and the annual Paddle Antrim Festival, every effort is rooted in our mission to Protect, Connect, and Educate.

We’re grateful for this recognition and for everyone who plays a part in making this work possible.
