DESCRIPTION:Register Today! \nClass will be held at River Park (6625 Bridge St\, Ellsworth\, MI) \nThis all-day class is for those who may have taken one of our Kayaking Essentials (or another class) and want to continue to work on their skills and learn new skills. We will go over basic stroke techniques including bracing and edging. We will work on rescue techniques including self rescues and t-rescues.  \nBecause a portion of the day will be spent on rescues\, a kayak with bulkheads in the bow and stern is necessary.  Please contact us if you are in need of a kayak to use for the class prior to registering and we may be able to accommodate.   \nBring:  \n\nSea Kayak (one with a bow and stern bulkhead)\nPaddle\nVest-style PFD (life jacket – inherently bouyant\, no inflatables)\nClothes/rash guard that can get wet – polypropylene\, polyester\, coolmax\, etc…. anything but cotton!\nFleece and raincoat (if cool weather)\nWater shoes preferred over sandals. SUMMARY:St. Clair Lake-Six Mile Lake Natural Area Community Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Grab your paddleboard\, kayak or paddle craft of choice for an amazing evening paddle with Paddle Antrim\, Little Traverse Conservancy\, and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy through the St. Clair Lake – Six Mile Lake Natural Area. \nCAKE CISMA (The Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area Serving Charlevoix\, Antrim\, Kalkaska\, and Emmet Counties ) will also join us for this community paddle to give brief remarks about identifying and reporting invasives species as well as how to protect our waterways by practicing Clean\, Drain Dry. While out on the paddle we will identify both native and invasive plants. \nThe paddle will begin at St. Clair Lake DNR Boat Access Site (9400 Six Mile Lake Road) at 6:00 pm to check in. At 6:15 pm CAKE CISMA will give remarks and we will launch as a group at 6:30 pm. \nThe St. Clair Lake – Six Mile Lake Natural Area is a 255 acre preserve co-owned and co-managed by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and the Little Traverse Conservancy . Learn more here. \nAs with all Paddle Antrim community paddles\, we encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us. These paddles last approximately one hour or so on the water\, are free\, and no pre-registration is required.  All paddlers must bring their own craft (kayak\, canoe\, or paddleboard)\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events\, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water. \nAll paddlers must complete a paddling event waiver prior to participation. Waivers can be viewed and signed digitally. \nComplete Waiver \nTo protect our waters\, anytime you change waterways you should ALWAYS Clean\, Drain\, and Dry your boat and gear to prevent the spread of invasive species. Before joining us out on the water\, we ask that you Clean\, Drain\, Dry your boat and gear. To wash your own boat\, check out this link . We recently had New Zealand Mud Snails found in our waterways and hope everyone will do their part to protect our lakes/rivers.
