SUMMARY:Grass River Natural Area Community Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Grab your paddleboard\, kayak or paddle craft of choice and join Paddle Antrim for an extra special community paddle.  We are co-hosting this paddle with Grass River Natural Area to explore this special place. Grass River’s naturalist will be there to share the natural history of the river. This slow paddle is scheduled for  2 hours. We will begin at Willow Day Park at 6:00 pm to check in and we will launch promptly as a group at 6:15 pm. \nPaddle Antrim encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us on the water for these slow paddles. This paddle will last approximately two hours on the water\, is free\, and no pre-registration is required. All paddlers must bring their own craft/boat\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events\, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water. \nDIRECTIONS TO WILLOW DAY PARK: From Bellaire\, drive south on M-88 just over 2 miles to Brake Rd. Turn right on Brake Rd and drive about one mile to White Birch Lane. Turn right on White Birch Lane (it does say private road but please continue) and Willow Day Park is almost immediately on the left.

DESCRIPTION:Our kids class is a great way to introduce your child to the sport of kayaking. Designed with fun and water safety as primary goals\, we teach students through a variety of games and exploration. Our experienced\, certified instructors teach basic strokes\, directional control\, how to get in and out of the kayak safely\, and what to do when you capsize. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative\, energizing and very experiential learning session as we explore and discover the best solutions to when (not if) we end up in the water\, out of our boats. This course is geared for ALL levels of paddlers. \nCourse Covers: 30 Second Kayak Rescue\, Hand of God\, Cowboy\, Paddle Float\, Scoop\, and You Tell Me. This course is geared to ALL level of paddlers. \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements. Participants must bring the following equipment: sit-in kayak with 2 bulkheads\, paddle\, pfd (life jacket).  Also please bring if you have a spray skirt\, bilge pump\, and a paddle float. Paddles and Pedals in Bellaire rents these kayaks or contact Paddle Antrim to see if the instructor may have an appropriate kayak for you. \nAll classes are taught by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified instructors. Class size is limited with a 5:1 maximum student to teacher ratio. DESCRIPTION:Paddlers 18+ years are invited to join Michigan Sea Grant and partners for a one-day program about protecting water trails from aquatic invasive species (AIS). Participants will learn about the dangers of AIS\, how to identify them\, and how to report sightings through the Midwest Invasive Species Information Network. Then head out for an hour paddle on a nearby water trail. DESCRIPTION:This class gives paddlers the fundamentals for paddling all types of kayaks in a fun and safe way. Students will learn essential safety skills and strokes. You will have the opportunity to learn how to “wet exit” (get out of your kayak safely). You’ll learn a bit about what kayaks work best for what conditions and other paddling best practices. This class is great for beginners but anyone who has never received formal instruction will benefit. \nCourse Covers: Safety gear\, boat design/fit\, forward stroke\, reverse stroke\, stopping\, turning\, sweep stroke\, draw stroke\, wet exit/self-rescue\, and assisted rescue/T-rescue. \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements. SUMMARY:Intro to Kayaking
DESCRIPTION:This class is to give paddlers the fundamentals for paddling all types of kayaks in a fun and safe way. Students will learn essential safety skills and strokes. You will have the opportunity to learn how to “wet exit” (get out of your kayak safely). You’ll learn a bit about what kayaks work best for what conditions and other paddling best practices. This class is great for beginners but anyone who has never received formal instruction will benefit. \nCourse Covers: Safety gear\, boat design/fit\, forward stroke\, reverse stroke\, stopping\, turning\, sweep stroke\, draw stroke\, wet exit/self-rescue\, and assisted rescue/T-rescue. \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements. Participants must bring the following required equipment: kayak (sit on top\, recreational\, and sea kayaks ok)\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). \nAll classes are taught by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified instructors.
