SUMMARY:Ellsworth Pig Roast Community Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Grab your paddleboard\, kayak\, or canoe and join Paddle Antrim for an amazing evening paddle on Ellsworth Lake as part of the Ellsworth Pig Roast Celebration. This hour-long slow paddle will begin at Ellsworth’s River Park (Rushton Rd/Bridge St) at 6:30 pm to check in and we will launch promptly as a group at 7:00 pm. Paddle Antrim encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us on the water for these slow paddles. These paddles last approximately one hour on the water\, are free\, and no pre-registration is required.  All paddlers must bring their own craft/boat\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events\, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water.

SUMMARY:Coastal Kayaking Immersion
DESCRIPTION:In this all day class paddlers will focus on boat control\, safety\, and building confidence. You will learn fundamental safety skills and stroke enhancements that will help you turn better and travel forward with less energy expended. Other skills will include basic rescues\, edging\, and beginning bracing. You’ll also be introduced to “risk management” as it relates to sea kayaking in the places you plan to play. \nCourse Covers: boat control – stroke enhancement\, edging/stability\, capsize prevention – bracing\, moving sideways – draws & sculling\, and rescue techniques \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements. Participants must bring the following equipment: sit-in kayak with 2 bulkheads\, paddle\, pfd (life jacket).  Also required is a spray skirt\, bilge pump\, and a paddle float. For this class\, equipment will be provided for participants at no cost by the instructor if included in registration. \nAll classes are taught by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified instructors. SUMMARY:Intro to Kayaking
DESCRIPTION:This class is to give paddlers the fundamentals for paddling all types of kayaks in a fun and safe way. Students will learn essential safety skills and strokes. You will have the opportunity to learn how to “wet exit” (get out of your kayak safely). You’ll learn a bit about what kayaks work best for what conditions and other paddling best practices. This class is great for beginners but anyone who has never received formal instruction will benefit. \nCourse Covers: Safety gear\, boat design/fit\, forward stroke\, reverse stroke\, stopping\, turning\, sweep stroke\, draw stroke\, wet exit/self-rescue\, and assisted rescue/T-rescue. \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet ACA eligibility requirements. Participants must bring the following required equipment: kayak (sit on top\, recreational\, and sea kayaks ok)\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). Equipment will be provided for participants at no cost by the instructor if included in registration. \nNote: For this class only\, there are limited kayaks available for use by participants. If you do not have a kayak\, please contact us and the instructor may be able to provide gear for this course. \nAll classes are taught by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified instructors.
