This is an opportunity to experience this wild and scenic river that you won’t want to miss and at the end we will enjoy some local cider and doughnuts. Space is limited\, so make sure to register early. \nThe trip will begin at Jordan Valley Outfitters\, 311 N. Lake St\, East Jordan\, MI 49727. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork. DESCRIPTION:The Paddle Antrim Festival celebrates the amazing waterways and communities of Northern Michigan.  The Festival\, always the second weekend after Labor Day\, includes a two-day paddle event through the Chain of Lakes Water Trail in Antrim County. This choose your own adventure paddle provides the opportunity for you to paddle one or both days and decide how far to travel.  There are exits strategically placed along the route so you may go anywhere from 7 miles to all 42 miles. \nLocal events begin Thursday evening with food\, music\, and great times and continue through Saturday when we end with a bang at the Final Bash hosted by our top sponsor\, Short’s Brewing Company. Designed with fun and water safety as primary goals\, we teach students through a variety of games and exploration. Our experienced\, certified instructors teach basic strokes\, directional control\, how to get in and out of the kayak safely\, and what to do when you capsize. Classes are taught in traditional youth sized sea kayaks. \nMaximum student:teacher ratio is 4:1\nAges: 7-13\n$40/person for two hours\nThis class is non-refundable.\nThere must be at least 4 students at least 10 days in advance to run the class. DESCRIPTION:This class is to give paddlers the fundamentals for paddling all types of kayaks in a fun and safe way. Students will learn essential safety skills and strokes. You will have the opportunity to learn how to “wet exit” (get out of your kayak safely). You’ll learn a bit about what kayaks work best for what conditions and other paddling best practices. This class is great for beginners but anyone who has never received formal instruction will benefit. \nCourse Covers: Safety gear\, boat design/fit\, forward stroke\, reverse stroke\, stopping\, turning\, sweep stroke\, draw stroke\, wet exit/self-rescue\, and assisted rescue/T-rescue. \nParticipants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements. SUMMARY:Central Lake Community Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Grab your paddleboard\, kayak\, or canoe and join Paddle Antrim for an amazing morning paddle out of Central Lake. This hour-long slow paddle will begin at Central Lake’s Bradford St Boat Launch (just south of the Thurston Park Campground) at 8:30 am to check in and we will launch promptly as a group at 9:00 am. Paddle Antrim encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us on the water for these slow paddles. These paddles last approximately one hour on the water\, are free\, and no pre-registration is required.  All paddlers must bring their own craft/boat\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events\, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water.
