SUMMARY:Native Plant Identification Community Paddle - St. Clair Lake-Six Mile Lake Natural Area
DESCRIPTION:Grab your paddleboard\, kayak or paddle craft of choice for an amazing evening paddle with Paddle Antrim and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC) through the St. Clair Lake – Six Mile Lake Natural Area. \nThe paddle will begin at St. Clair Lake DNR Boat Access Site (9400 Six Mile Lake Road) at 6:00 pm to check in. At 6:15 pm GTRLC will give remarks and we will launch as a group at 6:30 pm. While we are out on the paddle GTRLC will help paddlers identify native plants.  \nThe St. Clair Lake – Six Mile Lake Natural Area is a 255 acre preserve co-owned and co-managed by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and the Little Traverse Conservancy . Learn more here. \nAs with all Paddle Antrim community paddles\, we encourage all ages and types of paddle crafts to join us. These paddles last approximately one hour or so on the water\, are free\, and no pre-registration is required.  All paddlers must bring their own craft (kayak\, canoe\, or paddleboard)\, paddle\, and pfd (life jacket). As with all Paddle Antrim events\, pfds must be properly worn at all times. All ages are welcome but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult out on the water. \nAll paddlers must complete a paddling event waiver prior to participation. DESCRIPTION:Your local conservation partners at CAKE CISMA\, Kalkaska Conservation District\, and Paddle Antrim are excited to announce a Paddle Stewardship training focused on invasive plants! We will discuss why invasive plants are an issue for Northwest Michigan\, how to identify them\, report them\, and finally how to make sure you are keeping our waterways beautiful for the next paddlers. Our training will consist of: \n-June 22 | 9 – 10:30 AM | online training via Zoom (link to follow)\n-June 23 | 9 – 11 AM | a follow up on-the-water event at the Torch River DNR Access Site (Bring your paddle craft and life jacket!) \nWe are looking forward to sharing information and getting you all out on the water. After the training\, we encourage all participants to help us identify and report invasive plants on the Manistee River. We will have a sign-up available to identify the section you want to paddle our trainings and report the invasive plants you find. This effort will help our teams in the conservation of Northern Michigan’s waterways! Please reach out to staff from any of the partner organizations with questions before the events! \nParticipants will be expected to bring their own kayak/canoe/paddleboard as well as paddle and life jacket. Life jackets must be worn at all times while out o the water. DESCRIPTION:Paddlers 18+ years are invited to join Michigan Sea Grant and partners for a one-day program about protecting water trails from aquatic invasive species (AIS). Participants will learn about the dangers of AIS\, how to identify them\, and how to report sightings through the Midwest Invasive Species Information Network. Then head out for an hour paddle on a nearby water trail.
