SUMMARY:Paddle Boarding Essentials Class – June 21
DESCRIPTION:Register Today \nClass will be held at: Arbutus Lake\, No 5\, Traverse City\, MI (http://www.gtrec.org/facility.asp?ait=av&aid=18) \nThis class teaches paddlers the basics for paddle boarding in a fun and safe way. You’ll learn about different paddling board features and types. Learn how to make the paddle board go where you want it to go and basic safety skills needed on the water. You will have the opportunity to learn what to do when (not if) you end up in the water. This class is great for beginners but anyone who has never received formal instruction will benefit. \nBring:  \n\nPaddle Board (whatever you use is ok)\nPaddle\nVest-style PFD (life jacket – inherently bouyant\, no inflatables)\nClothes/rash guard that can get wet – polypropylene\, polyester\, coolmax\, etc…. anything but cotton!\nFleece and raincoat (if cool weather)\nWater shoes preferred over sandals. Must stay on feet\, no flip flops.\nDry clothes to change into\nWater bottle\nSunscreen’\n\nAll classes are taught by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified instructors. \nMaximum student: teacher ratio is 5:1\nAges: 14 and up\n$40/person \nREQUIREMENTS:\n– Participants must wear life jackets while on the water. \n– All paddlers must complete a paddling class waiver prior to participation. Waivers can be viewed and signed digitally here. \n– Participants must meet the ACA eligibility requirements here. \nNote: There must be at least 2 students registered to run the class. If you are unable to attend\, we can transfer your registration to another class. Refunds are only available if class is cancelled. If you are unable to attend\, please contact us prior to your class about transferring your registration to another class.  \nTo protect our waters\, anytime you change waterways you should ALWAYS Clean\, Drain\, and Dry your boat and gear to prevent the spread of invasive species. Before joining us out on the water\, we ask that you Clean\, Drain\, Dry your boat and gear. To wash your own boat\, check out this link . We recently had New Zealand Mud Snails found in our waterways and hope everyone will do their part to protect our lakes/rivers.
